Fueling Brainpower for Kids

Too many children on North Carolina’s Outer Banks were going hungry.

Hunger hampers healthy thinking and development.  That’s why Food
for Thought was born.

Today, this all-volunteer non-profit organization provides nutritious child-pleasing non-perishable breakfasts and lunches for elementary children who meet specific criteria in Dare
County each weekend during the school year.

"I can't tell you how grateful I am for the food we received. It helped us so much."

participating parent

"This program has been eagerly embraced by parents and students alike. Parents have told me that having a source for extra food to tide them over through the weekend is a great benefit that really helps the children."

NEWS & EVENTS:
Thank you, thank you, thank you to all our wonderful supporters and friends! We ended up number 43, well within the top 60 organizations, to win a $20,000 Walmart grant! It's because of all of you that we were able to accomplish this. The funds will be used for healthy weekend meals for children in Dare County.

Samantha speaks for us all when she says "thank you for the food."

We're happy to see also that Food Bank of the Albemarle was in the top 40 food banks and wins a $45,000 grant. The Food Bank of the Albemarle invited us to compete in the campaign, along with the Edenton-Chowan Food Pantry, which also won a $20,000 grant. So there will be a number of hungry children fed in Northeast North Carolina!
